Wanchope Set for Argentina's Rosario
Costa Rican striker Paulo Cesar Wanchope is set to join the Argentine club Rosario Central.

Horacio Carbonari, Rosario's director of said that he had held very good talks with Costa Rican officials and Wanchope himself.

"He told me that he would like to come her to Rosario and we agree to meet and settle the details. I am waiting for his call... and I estimate that this weekend or next week he will be on his way here," Carbonari said, either to sign a contract or to start training with the team. "We want him to join us as soon as possible," Carbonari added.

Carbonari explained that there was a shortage of forwards in the Argentine transfer market, and that he had played alongside Wanchope in England, and was keen to try him out for that reason.

"We made a financial effort, spoke with him to see if he would be interested in the offer and he liked the proposal," Carbonari said, refusing to name a figure, but saying it was a number that the club could afford.

The 30-year-old Wanchope, who has the national team's goal-scoring record, has scored 45 goals in 72 national team matches during the last decade.

He scored one goals for the national team in the 2002 World Cup held in Japan and South Korea and two this June in the Germany World Cup.

His league career includes Spain's Malaga, Qatar's Al Garrafah, and three English clubs Derby County, Manchester City and West Ham United.
