Access to Technology
The access to information and
communication technologies in
Costa Rica is not at the top
level but it surpasses the
world’s average.
This fact surfaced in a study by
the International
Telecommunications Union and the
UN Conference for Trade and
Development.
The report points out that the
digital opportunity in Costa
Rica is 0.43, which surpasses
the world average, estimated at
0.37, and the one for Latin
America, 0.40.
According to the sources, 0
represents here no access
whatsoever to any information
technologies; 0.50 is the peak
level, and 1.0 is the perfect
level. T
he nations with the top indexes
are South Korea (0.79), Japan
(0.71), Denmark (0.71), and
Iceland (0.69).
