Carter Visits Panama Canal
US former President Jimmy Carter
visited Panama Canal Thursday,
where he praised inter oceanic
sea route extension project,
initiative valued at 5.2 billion
dollars.
Accompanied by President Martin
Torrijos, former governor went
all over Miraflores, at the
entrance of Pacific Ocean.
Together to general Omar
Torrijos, Carter signed in 1977
a treaty that allowed the return
to Panamanian people of Panama
Canal.
US former Head of State arrived
at this country last night in a
private visit and was welcomed
by Martin Torrijos, and by
chancellor and Prime Vice
President Samuel Lewis.
Carter is a friend of Panama, he
accompanied us in the sign of
Canal Agreements and in the
process of transition of that
sea route to Panama, said Lewis.
