IMF and IDB Probe Future Sandinista Govt
The meetings behind closed doors among international financial organization representatives and president-elect Daniel Ortega stood out in the local news scope during the present week.

The president-elect met with Inter American Development Bank president, Colombian Luis Alberto Moreno at the Sandinista National Liberation Front headquarters first thing in the morning on Tuesday.

After the meeting, Moreno announced that international financial organization´s willingness to continue working in Nicaragua, and grant new credits to this country.

According to the IDB president, Ortega explained to him the programs the new government would undertake, starting on January 10, to eradicate the poverty that 80 percent of the population is suffering.

Moreno said he was satisfied, because the Sandinista leader promised to maintain the current macroeconomic stability, which is based on market economy and the free market system.

Ortega made a similar promise to IMF Manager Anoop Singh, with whom he met on Tuesday afternoon.

Although Ortega has not made public statements about the content of the talks, his interlocutor, of Indian origin, asserted to have maintained a "very good" dialogue.
