Top Security at Ortega Swearing
In
Nearly 9,200 police officers
will watch the ceremony where
president-elect Daniel Ortega
will receive from outgoing
Enrique Bolaños the ceremonial
sash on Jan 10, Alfonso Sevilla,
chief of the police Public
Relations, said Sunday.
Sevilla explained that besides
guaranteeing security at the
public square where the swear-in
ceremony will take place, agents
will also protect foreign
guests, hotels, borders and
roads.
Among those expected to attend
Ortega´s investiture are
presidents Hugo Chavez,
Venezuela, Luiz Inacio Lula da
Silva, Brazil, Prince of
Asturias Felipe de Borbon plus
all dignitaries of the Central
American Integration (Panama,
Guatemala, Honduras,El Salvador,
Costa Rica and Belize).
Likewise, over 600 foreign
reporters should come to
Nicaragua to cover the return to
power of the Sandinista National
Liberation Front.
