Pedestrian Run Over For Real
During
Simulation
A simulated accident organized
by the Consejo de Seguridad Vial
(Cosevi) with the objective of
avoiding more deaths on the
roads, resulted in a pedestrian
being run over for real.
The simulation was held in front
of the Mas x menos grocery store
on the General Cañas (across
from the Corobici hotel), when a
man identified only as Torres,
who came out to witness the
simulation, was hit by a car.
The man suffered cuts and
bruises in the accident and his
injuries were not serve enough
to warrant a visit to the
hospital, Tránsito officials
said.
Another similar simulation took
place on Saturday near the
Megasuper in Parque de la Paz,
which caused tremendous traffic
jams in the busy area that leads
to Desamparados.
The objective was to capture the
attention of drivers, passengers
and pedestrians and the impact
of a scene of a violent traffic
accident. The simulation
included attention to persons
fatally injured in the accident,
and was carried out closely to a
real accident, blocking traffic
for hours until the bodies were
removed from the scene.
