Police Uncover Plot To Kill

President Oscar Arias, the
Ministro de Seguridad Pública
Fernando Berrocal and the
director of the Dirección de
Inteligencia y Seguridad
Nacional (DIS) Roberto
Solórzano, were that targets of
two Nicaraguan men, who who
working as mules for the
Colombian FARC, with operations
in Costa Rica, the Spanish
language newspaper Diario Extra
reports.
The gunmen, identified by their
last names Obregón Cerdas
andMartínez Uriarte, were
detained on Avenida 10 in San
José with 6.000 rounds of
ammunition used in AK-47's and
50 grams of cocaine.
Friday night, police raided an
home in San Antonio de Tekar in
Alajuela, where they found a
stash of 50.000 rounds of AK-47
ammunition and six sticks of
dynamite, which authorities
believe their main purpose was
to rid of "important people",
both in politics and in the
police agencies.
Authorities say that they found
a list of names, includes
addresses, suspected to be the
gunmen's hitlist, including
newspaper foto cutouts.
Both Berrocal, nor Solorzano,
have made any public comments on
the situation.
For his part, Jorge Rojas,
director of the Organismo de
Investigación Judicial (OIJ),
assured that there was no such
"hit list", saying only that
they found a number of papers
with telephone numbers and other
that they will be analyzing
closely.
