Nicaragua, Honduras Indigenous
Integrate
Honduras and Nicaragua Foreign
Ministries Saturday certified a
program to guarantee the
integration of the indigenous
peoples settled on both sides of
the border along the Coco River.
The governor of the Nicaraguan
region of Waspam, Reinaldo
Francis, appreciated the
collaboration of both
governments to improve the
situation of those native
inhabitants, who are
continuously bothered by
landowners.
Deputy Foreign Ministers Javier
Williams (Nicaragua) and Eduardo
Reyna (Honduras) criticized the
unscrupulous authorities
crossing territorial borders to
threaten and turn the indigenous
people out.
The new program is intended to
finish with the harassment
suffered by those communities
and boost communication and
integration among them.
