Gasoline Price Drop Approved
Gasoline prices are finally
coming down with the approval
yesterday by the Autoridad
Reguladora de los Servicios
Públicos (Aresep) that will
reduce the price of a litre of
super gasoline by ¢17 colones
and ¢20 colones for regular.
The approval has to be first
published in the official
government publication, La
Gaceta, before it come into
effect, which publication is
expected within the next five
days.
The new prices will be set at
¢552.9 colones for a litre of
regular, down from the current
¢573 and ¢579.5 for a litre of
super, down from the current
¢597.
This will be first price
reduction for the year following
a series of increases that have
hit the pocket book of drivers.
However, the reduced prices will
not be held there for long, as
gasoline station owners have
made a request for an increase
of ¢9.2 colones, increasing
their margin on sales from the
current ¢25.2 to ¢34.5 colones
or 36.6% higher.
The hearing for the station
owners request will be held on
September 18.
