Panamanian President Popularity
Increases
A 67.2 percent of Panamanians
term good or excellent the labor
carried out by President Martin
Torrijos, after two years of his
inauguration, according to a
poll published Sunday.
The survey reveals that hardly
26.8 percent of those polled
termed "bad or very bad" his
government's mandate.
The statesman got a 60 percent
of acceptance among citizen in
June, a 64.4 percent in May and
61.5 percent in April.
Torrijos has increased his
popularity despite the salary
demands from several sectors
like magisterial unions and
managerial officials, the poll
states.
According to the poll, the
summons to a national referendum
on the modernization of the
Panama Canal Zone won't affect
Torrijos negatively.
