Ex Nicaraguan President Filed by
INTERPOL
The International Police
(INTERPOL) confirmed Sunday that
ex Nicaraguan President Arnoldo
Aleman and some of his relatives
were filed in United States and
Latin America, for a later
capture.
Aleman governed Nicaragua
between 1997 and 2001, was
accused of money laundering and
state fraud and is in the
country in a privileged house
arrest.
Panama started extradition
procedures for the former
statesman, but Nicaraguan
authorities have not took the
hint, and local experts said the
measure will not be accepted
because they contradict national
laws.
Panamanian justice bodies stated
that the capture order also
includes Maria Flores, wife of
Aleman, and his father-in-law
Jose Antonio Flores, among other
collaborators, La Prensa
newspaper reported.
The ex statesman and leader of
the Partido Liberal
Constitucionalista was accused
and tried in Managua for the
laundering in the Panamanian
bank of us$56 million extracted
from the Nicaraguan public
treasure.
Such crime can redound in eight
years of prison if he is tried
in the Panamanian country.
