Panama Ratifies Venezuela Accord
Panama s Council of Ministers
approved the Framework Agreement
of Cooperation between this
country and Venezuela, inked on
June 22, to boost bilateral
relations.
According to a release published
Wednesday, this accord
establishes a performance
between both nations "aimed at
social development to fight
poverty, foster trade and
investments, promote exports,
energy, environment and natural
resources."
During Venezuela s President
Hugo Chavez recent visit to this
country, both nations signed
several agreements, with
particular emphasis on energy.
Among them are a protocol for a
mechanism of consultation and
political agreement, signed by
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ali
Rodriguez and Panamanian First
Vice President and Foreign
Minister Samuel Lewis Navarro.
Other signed documents were on
energy cooperation, management
and storage of hydrocarbons,
supply and refining of oil for
Panama, and transport and
management of natural gas.
