Sabana Sur To Get Four Lane
Road, MOPT Announces
Residents and those travelling
through the south side of the La
Sabana will soon get a relief,
as the Ministerio de Obras
Públicas y Transportes (MOPT)
will next week open tenders to
expand the two lane road to four
lanes.
Karla González, Ministra de
Obras Públicas y Transportes,
announced the widening of the
roadway that is a daily cause
for traffic chaos.
The expansion will be from the
Librería Universal to the east
to the Ministerio de la
Producción building to the west.
The minister said that the road
surface will be concrete and not
asphalt, similar to the
reconstruction of Avenida 1 that
runs parallel to the north of
Paseo Colón .
González did not offer timing
for the construction and
completion of the road, other
than to say that bidders will
have the next 45 days to submit
their proposals for the
construction of what the
minister called one of the most
important roads in San José.
