Nicaragua Energy Crisis Worse
Power outages between four and up to eight hours a day and rising gasoline prices show that the current Nicaraguan energy crisis has worsened.

The power cuts were announced on Monday by the Spanish Union Fenosa transnational, which has control of electricity distribution in the country.

According to the company, the cuts are caused by a deficit in energy production, resulting from technical faults in one of the electricity generating plants.

Besides, the Apanas hydroelectric plant has low generating capacity, due to the low level of waters in the lake with the same name, Fenosa Union said.

The power outages affected on Monday 150 communities from 13 provinces of the country, between 6:00 am and 2:00 pm.
