Cubans Reaffirm Fidelity to Fidel
The expressions and messages of solidarity, revolutionary commitment and encouragement, wishing Cuban President Fidel Castro a prompt physical recovery, continued to be heard Wednesday from Cuban workplaces, educational centers, plazas, streets and every corner of the Island.

In the traditionally peaceful Cuba, citizens appear confident of the recovery of their historic leader and president, whose daily functions are temporarily in the hands of several high-ranking officials, especially Army Gen. Raul Castro Ruz, with undeniable capacity to successfully ensure the continuity of the revolutionary process.

People from all provinces, particularly Granma, Santiago de Cuba, Sancti Spiritus, Holguin, Las Tunas and Guantanamo, where a US naval base illegally occupies a portion of the territory, have publicly conveyed their willingness and commitment to accomplish tasks of their respective provinces.

In Granma, host of the main celebration for the 53rd anniversary of the attack on Moncada Garrison, workers pledged to reinforce revolutionary surveillance and be more disciplined and efficient in their jobs.

They will also continue prioritizing the Battle of Ideas, the Energy Revolution and preparations for defending against a possible attack from the enemy, which receive special attention from Fidel Castro.

You are with us and Cuba lives with you, were some of the posters and banners people in Santiago de Cuba carried in public squares to convey their full and unconditional support for the proclamation Fidel Castro addressed to his nation.

People´s backing of Fidel Castro ranged from gestures of solidarity to testimonies of his historic entrance into that city on January 1, 1959, when he declared the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, and from the balcony of the old City Hall building, made his first public address following the fall of Dictator Fulgencio Batista.

Workers in Sancti Spiritus held meetings and staged rallies to ratify their determination to protect Cuba´s social achievements and continue building socialism.

In the 26 de Julio Factory in Holguin, people recalled the words of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, who said revolutionaries fight for ideals, not for glory.

Messages of support for Fidel Castro and his proclamation also came from the health staff of the Pediatrics Hospital in Las Tunas and workers at the Frank Pais Saltworks Enterprise in Guantanamo.
