Escazú Mayor's Home Invaded
Three delinquents invaded,
Monday night, the house of
Escazú mayor, Marco Antonio
Segura Seco, and held hostage
the mayor's daughter and niece
for almost 40 minutes, according
to a police report.
Two men and a woman, covered
with ski masks, carrying a radio
that picks up police
frequencies, leads police to
believe that the home invaders
are part of an organized group.
This group was led by the woman
who constantly barked orders to
keep calm and stay in control.
The 67 year old mayor was not at
home at the time of the invasion
as he was help up in a meeting
that ran longer than planned.
"We I was notified, the invaders
had already left the house",
said the mayor.
The incident occurred at 10:30pm
Monday night when the group rang
the door bell and held a gun to
the head of 45 year old Ana
Segura, who opened the door and
told them they can take whatever
they want, including her jewelry
and other valuable items.
"I thought of the case of a
friend who was shot in the head
three time because she did not
want to tell invaders where she
kept her valuables", said
Segura.
The Escazú mayor believes that
the invasion was a mistake of
house on the part of the
delinquents who did not ask for
him, but rather for the giant
plasma television set. The
theory is reinforced by the fact
that the mayor's wife was in the
bedroom sleeping at the time of
the invasion and the invaders
did not ask for her, nor bother
to check out the entire house.
"They said that someone screwed
them over" said Segura, who
added that home invasions in
Escazú are frequent.
