Panama
to Host Communications
Conference
Panama will host the first
Inter-Parliamentary Conference
on the Right to Communication,
Eradication of Poverty, and
Development, May 3 and 4.
Panamanian National Assembly
President Elias Castillo said
the meeting will bring together
members of the Latin American
Parliament, media directors and
unions of journalists, as well
as UNESCO specialists.
The speakers´ list includes
representatives of various
committees, particularly
Communication and Information,
Education, Culture, and Science
and Technology.
The event will mark the
centennial of the National
Assembly of Panama and the 180th
anniversary of the Anfictionic
Congress convened by Simon
Bolivar in Panama.
The goal is to help strengthen
democracy in Latin America and
the Caribbean through ample
debate and to honor Freedom of
the Press Day.
