"Ticas"  Expected To Live To 81
The report titled “Indicadores de género y salud, Costa Rica 2005” says that, among other things, that Costa Ricans have a longer life expectancy that the rest of Latin America.

The report indicates that women can expect to live longer to an average age of 81, while men will live on average to 76.5.

The report was made public by Ministerio de Salud (Health Minister), María del Rocío Sáenz Madrigal, at the Club Unión in San José yesterday. Officials of the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) and the Organización Panamericana de la Salud, were on hand to provide details contained in the report.

Among other things contained in the report, the document says that in the last 15 years, women participation in the work place has increased by 6%, while unemployment among women continues to be higher than men. Of all workers registered with the CCSS, 684.015 are men and 319.560 are women.

On fact contained in the report is that the income by the rich rose by 96% by the increase by the poor was only 7%.
