Arias
Officially Named Winner of
Presidential Elections
The Tribunal Supremo de
Elecciones (TSE) granted Oscar
Arias Sánchez official
credentials as winner of the
February 5 presidential
elections.
Arias personally received the
official document naming him the
next president by the TSE
president, Oscar Fonseca, along
with the credentials naming
Laura Chinchilla as first
vice-president and Kevin Casas
as second vice-president.
Arias, of the Partido Liberación
Nacional (PLN) won the election
by close margin of some 18.000
votes over Partido Acción
Cuidadana (PAC) leader, Ottón
Solís and will be sworn in on
May 8 at noon, when outgoing
president Abel Pacheco hands
Arias the keys to Casa
Presidencial.
This is the last official act by
the TSE on the election.
