San José Airport Closed Last Night
Inclement weather forced the closing of the Juan Santamaría international airport last night, as hundreds waited patiently for flights that were rerouted to Liberia and Panama.

There was no warning on the television monitors at the airport or on Alterra's website, only showing flights as "confirmed", until later, well after 8pm, did the notice come that the airport was closed.

Heavy fog and rain made landing and takeoff at the airport impossible as officials decided to shut down operations.
