Arias Leader of A Sinking
Ship, Guevara Says
"Arias is like the captain of
the Titanic", were the words of
Otto Guevara responding to a
chat by readers of the Spanish
language daily newspaper Al Día.
The online chat began at 10am,
that saw 151 readers online to
talk directly to the leader fo
the Movimiento Libertario party.
Billboards for the Arias
presidential campaign are all
over San José saying that "the
ship needs a captain".
The attack on Oscar Arias is a
continuation of the attack of
Sunday nights presidential
candidates debate when Guevara
and Antonio Alvarez,Unión Para
el Cambio (UPC) leader, came
down hard on the 2006
presidential election
frontrunner.
Both Guevara and Alvarez
questioned Arias' stand on
education and government
financing, telling viewers on
Sunday that Arias cut education
spending during his term of
1986-1990; Arias responding with
a reminder to the two
presidential candidates that
they were ministers in his
cabinet then.
Guevara during the online chat
said that he will stay firm on
the issue of free market
competition and bringing more
jobs to Costa Rica.
Asked how he kept himself "so
good looking", he thanked the
compliment, but avoided
answering the question.
