Gasoline Prices Drop Tomorrow
Don't fill that tank today, as gasoline prices are set to drop as of midnight tonight, following the approval by the Autoridad Reguladora de Servicios Públicos last week.

At the stroke of midnight, the price for a litre of super gasoline will drop ¢20 colones, while regular drops ¢19 colones and diesel ¢15 colones.

The new price for super will be ¢441 colones, down from the present ¢461; regular will drop to ¢420 from ¢439; and diesel will sell for ¢324 colones, down from ¢339.

What the drops means is a savings of ¢900 colones to fill a 45 litre tank with super.

The price drop was requested by the Refinadora Costarricense de Petróleo (Recope) reflecting the drop in price for crude oil on world markets as at November 10.

This is the second major price drop this month, when the Aresep approved a drop of ¢46 colones per litre of super and ¢27 colones per litre of regular on November 3. An increase in the tax on gasoline saw that reduction reduced by ¢3.5 colones.

Gasoline prices have set records this year. In January the price of a litre of super was ¢355 colones, ¢106 colones less than today, while regular sold for ¢340 and diesel ¢254.
