Arbitration Board Orders Work to Resume At Juan Santamaria airport
According to the Contraloría General de la República (Comptroller's office) work on the Juan Santamaria International airport in san José must resume within the next 10 working days, setting December 9 a deadline.

The Contraloría ordered the Consejo Técnico de Aviación Civil (Cetac) to notify Alterra Partners to begin the work, saying that the work stoppage since 2003 was without reason and justification. A copy of the order was also sent to the Ministro de Obras Públicas y Transportes, Randall Quirós.

The dispute between the government and Alterra completely stopped construction of the airport terminal for more than two years, as both sides claim a breach of contract. The case was submitted to an arbitration board.

The arbitration board said it found no evidence that work should have been suspended. Alterra's director, MOnica Nagel, holds firm that the company has the proof necessary to show that the work stoppage at Juan Santamaria was justified.
