Oprah Show Helps Catch Child
Predator
Officials with the "Oprah
Winfrrey Show" say viewer tips
have led to the arrest of a
accused child molester, Walter
Edward Meyer, who is now in
custody in Costa Rica and is
scheduled to be turned over to
U.S. authorities soon.
A regional security with the
U.S. Embassy in Costa Rica is
getting credit for help in the
arrest.
A release from the show
indicates that details about the
capture and its related reward
will be shown on an upcoming
episode.
In October, Oprah Winfrey
announced an initiative to
highlight the stories of victims
and survivors of child predator
crimes. Winfrey will pay a
$100,000 reward per case for
each of the individuals listed
on her show and website.
