Argentina-Colombia Dispute
Jose Marti Award
Argentine and Colombian papers
on South American issues such as
migration and privatization are
finalists of the 13th Jose Marti
Latin American Journalism Award.
After four days of sessions, the
jury of the event, sponsored by
Prensa Latina, continues Tuesday
with reading material about
women´s participation in human
rights, life in prison plus
indigenous and campesino
political movements.
Authors from Ecuador and Mexico
also stand out among final
works.
Since November 11, the jury of
Jose Marti Award has met with
Cuban Culture Minister Abel
Prieto and the president of Casa
de las Americas Roberto
Fernandez Retamar and visited
Old Havana, Morro-Cabaña
fortress and the Ernesto Che
Guevara Memorial Museum in Santa
Clara province.
The 13th Jose Marti Latin
American Journalism Award, whose
results will be known November
18 at the capital´s Jose Marti
Memorial Museum, emerged in
1986 to pay tribute to the Cuban
intellectual and independence
fighter.
As in previous editions, the
jury will give three awards, the
first of $750, a supporting
diploma and one-week all
inclusive trip throughout Cuba,
the second $500 and a diploma
and the third $300 with the
diploma.
