President Dismisses Peer's Comments
President Abel Pacheco dismissed assertion by Nicaraguan president, Enrique Bolaños, that Costa Rica has historically coveted the San Juan River and even the Lake of Nicaragua.

"I believe Mr. Bolaños is been subjected to unusual pressures.
He has lived the last few months on the brink," president Pacheco said.

For president Pacheo, President Enrique Bolaños is quite aware of the fact that what he is saying about the alleged interest of Costa Ricans is not true, and therefore there is no need to pay undue attention to the issue.

Costa Rica has made the decision to take the dispute over the San Juan river to the international court. The dispute is not over territory for the river, but rather, Costa Rica's right to navigate the river, which has been done under an agreement that expired last October.
