Opinion on TLC Divided
If Costa Ricans were to partake
in a referendum on whether the
Tratado Libre de Comercio (TLC)
- Central America-United States
Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) -
should be approved or not, the
most likely outcome would be a
split decision.
This was the result of a Unimer survey which found
that 49 percent of the
respondents would vote for it,
while 46 percent would vote
against it.
With a 2.6 percent
up or down error margin, the
actual outcome is a virtual tie.
Meanwhile, a major debate on the
advantages and disadvantages of
the agreement is under way in
Costa Rica.
