Divine Intervention Prevents Tragedy
Fate intervened in a collission between a bus and tractor trailer when the two collided in the area of Miramar, near Puntarenas, on the Internamerican highway.

The accident left 11 people injured but, luckily, no deaths.

Transit police report that the tractor trailer was headed south when another tractor trailer, also headed south, tried to overtake him.

Humberto Vega Ocampo, said he swerved to avoid a head on collision with the bus but the violent collision was inevitable.

The Transnica bus was headed north to Nicaragua carrying 36 passengers and had left San José at 7am.

"I put on the brakes to avoid a head on collision, but could not avoid hitting the bus", Vega told Transit police in his statement.

Because the bus was not full, passengers were able to spread out in the bus and this saved their lives.

The 11 passengers that were injured in the collision, that included an American who travelling to Nicaragua, received medical attention at the Monseñor Sanabria hospital in Puntarenas.
