A Human Sea Floods Havana's
Malecon
Since the early hours of this
Tuesday, hundreds of thousands
of Havana residents gathered for
the march along Havana
waterfront drive - the Malecon -
against terrorism and the
complicity of the US government
in this violent policy against
Cuba.Fidel Castro´s Speech
before Anti-Terrorism March in
Havana
President Fidel Castro delivered
a speech denouncing the long
history of terrorist attacks
against the island over the past
40 years, while condemning the
presence in the US of terrorist
of Cuban origin Luis Posada
Carriles, who is seeking
political asylum, and Orlando
Bosch, who was pardoned by
George Bush, Sr, in 1990 and
lives in Miami.
A rally summoned for this
afternoon in New York by
solidarity groups with Cuba,
Venezuela and Puerto Rico will
support the claims made in
Havana this morning: arrest and
extradite Luis Posada Carriles,
stop terrorism and give no
refuge to murderers and thieves.
The logistics for marchers are
in place: buses, kiosks, water
tanks for thirsty participants,
thousands of Cuban flags to wave
before the United States
Interests Section headquarters,
together with banners bearing
the slogans of !Stop Terrorism!,
!Bring the Criminals to
Justice!, !Release the Five
Heroes prisoners in US jails!
and many other homemade signs
full of Cuban humour.
History in the making and,
perhaps, another record
assistance for Cuban gatherings
that so impress visitors to this
city.
