Protest Today Begins at  8am Sharp
The protest march is to begin at 8am sharp at the Parque Central and in front of the ICE offices in La Sabana.

The various unions that will make up the protest are using these two key points to meet and show their solidarity before moving onto the Legislative Assembly, where speeches and demonstrations are called.

The Tratado de Libre Comercio - Free Trade Agreement with the United States - is the main issue, but demonstrations will also focus on the high price of gasoline and the almost forgotten Riteve - vehicle inspection issue - that is pending with truckers.

San José is not the only place for the demonstrations. Union leaders assure that demonstrations will be held in all seven provinces and don't discard that road blocks may be part of the demonstrations.

For those living outside of San José, they should be armed with patience and plenty of time as the "tortuguismo" will lengthen the time it normally takes to make the trip.

In San José, Paseo Colon and Avenida Segunda will be the main routes of the protestors. The main Easterly route into and across downtown San José will be completely blocked off, and the adjacent routes - Avenidas 1,3, 5, 7 & 9 to the north and Avenidas 4, 6, 8, & 10 to the south will be affected as the volume of traffic will move onto those routes.

Union organizers say the demonstrations will be peaceful.
