Seafood Prices Increase for Semana Santa
One of the most favourite dishes during
semana Santa is seafood.
However, the Instituto Costarricense de Pesca (Incopesca) reports that
seafood, in comparison to the last several weeks, have increased in
price considerably.
Filet dorado, clams and shrimp are the most costly. A kilogram of shrimp
runs about ˘10.000 colones (us$21.35).
According to the Incopesca report, the cheapest seafood prices can be
found in Municipal markets, like the Mercado central in downtown San
José, where prices can be at least 10% or more lower than that in
supermarkets.
