Man Shoots Wife Then Self In Front of Their Children
Domestic violence is not taking a rest. Yesterday, in La Union de Cartago a man decided to kill his wife before killing himself in front of their children aged four and nine.

The violence was reported at around 8 last night when 37 year old, José Ronald Herrera Corrales, who had a court to stay away from his 29 year old wife, Priscilla González Arguedas, confronted the woman as she got out of her car in front of her home.

According to witnesses, the couple had been separated for several months. Last night they quarreled after the man followed his estranged wife into the house. Witnesses say that the shouting and screaming got worse, followed by silence.

The man had used a 9mm gun to shot the woman in the head and then shot himself.

Neighbours called 911 after hearing the gunshots. Police were on the scene immediately though it was too late. Paramedics say there was nothing they could to save either, having already died when the arrived on the scene, minutes after receiving the call.

Police believe jealousy was surely the motive behind the occurrence as they heard neigbours tell how the man would continually abuse his wife and was very jealous.

This is the third incident in the past two weeks of domestic violence turning into fatality. The total for this year is 14 women who have died at the hands of their former partners and husbands.
