Argentine vice-president hails ties with China
Argentine Vice-President Daniel Scioli Friday commended the development of the Argentine-Chinese relationship, saying the exchange of state visits by the presidents of both countries last year ushered in a new stage in the development of bilateral ties.

Scioli made the remarks while meeting with Liu Yandong, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Scioli, also president of the Argentine Senate, added that bilateral economic and trade cooperation also saw new developments in recent years.

He said the Argentine parliament attaches importance to the friendly cooperation and exchanges with the CPPCC and is willing to contribute to furthering economic and trade ties with China.

Liu echoed Scioli's evaluation of the rapid development of bilateral ties. She highly appreciated Argentina's adherence to the one-China policy and expressed support for Argentina's just demand for reclaiming its sovereignty over Las Malvinas, known as the Falkland Islands in Britain, over which Argentina and Britain fought a war in 1982.

Liu added that China and Argentina are highly complementary in economics and trade, and have good prospects for such cooperation. The CPPCC hopes to further enhance exchanges with the Argentine parliament so as to promote bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Liu and her entourage arrived in Argentina on Wednesday after winding up their trip to Brazil. On Thursday, she met with President of the Lower House Eduardo Oscar Camano.
