The Ministerio de Ciencia y
Tecnología (MICIT), togther with
the Instituto Costarricense de
Electricidad (ICE) are calling
on individuals, business and
government institutions to take
part in the Concurso Nacional de
Sitios Web 2005 y Portales de
Contenidos Costarricenses
(website and portals contest).
The MICIT wants to promote the
"digital" culture in Costa Rica
and the contest is one incentive
for website creators and
developers to continue
cultivating that culture,
according to Bharley Quirós,
Minister of the MICIT.
To be part of the contest,
websites and portals should
promote Costa Rican culture and
Spanish be it's principal
language.
The winner and runner up will
represent Costa Rica in the "Premio
Ahciet al Mejor Portal
Iberoamericano" contest that is
being organized by the
Asociación Hispanoamericana de
Centros de Investigación y
Empresas de Telecomunicaciones.
Quirós said that 40 websites
have already registered for the
contest. Websites that cannot
participate in the contest are
those that contain violence,
discrimination and pornographic
materials. Sites that promote
delinquency or illegal activity
will also be refused.
Participation in the contest is
free and registration should be
before the August 1st deadline.
