AyA Two Day Strike Ended in 4
Hours
The Acueductos y Alcantarillados
(AyA) two day strike is over and
all is back to normal beginning
this morning.
The AyA workers began their two
day strike action on Thursday
suspending all functions at the
institution, complaining that
their salaries are below those
of other public institutions.
An agreement was signed
yesterday between the AyA
workers union and Fernando
Trejos, Minister of Labour, that
commits the labour ministry to
review the salaries, which the
union claims in many cases is
not even at minimums established
by law.
The AyA workers are demanding an
increase of at least 25% of
their current salaries and to be
paid every two weeks instead of
monthly.
The strike is over for now.
