From An Evil Act  to...  An Act of Love!
The tragedy lived by the family in Aserrí is a hope for a two year old girl in Alajuela, who received a liver transplant the other night following the death of two year Francisco at the hands of his own father.

The boy had been kept alive by machine at the Hospital Nacional de Niños after being shot by his father before he took his own life, distraught over the separation with Francisco's mother.

The plug was pulled on Francisco mid day Wednesday.

Rodolfo Hernández, medical director at the hospital, says that little boy was declared brain dead mid day Wednesday and died some hours after being removed from life support.

Immediately plans were put in place for the liver transplant to the  Alajuela girl in an operation that lasted until 4am Thursday.

The operation was conducted by Dr. Mariamalia Matamoros, said Hernández.

The little girl is still in the intensive care unit, is stable and under constant watch, said the doctor. Hernández added that the little girl was lucky that she was compatible with the little boy and was of the same age and it was a noble act on behalf of the Aserrí family who made the donation.

The doctor added "it is nice to know that out of an evil act something good may come of it. The boy, is some way, still lives, in the body of another person."

Hernádez said that it will be days before they can know for sure that little girl's body won't reject the organ and will be kept under constant watch and care until then.
