Costa Rica dropped 12 places in the 2004-2005 Global Report on Information Technology of the World Economic Forum, by placing 61st among 104 evaluated.

In 2003, it had occupied the 49th place, but the progress made by several Asian nations and scant investment in telecommunications, led to the drop, analysts explained.
