Pacheco Spends Another Night in Hospital, Should be Home Today
Doctors are giving President Abel Pacheco the ok to leave the Calderón Guardia hospital after spending two nights there, treated for high blood pressure. He expected to leave the facility, headed for home, at noon today.

Hospital medical director Luis Paulino Hernández Castañeda, assures that the president is fine, all he needs is rest.

Pacheco went to hospital on Monday morning for tests following a rise in his blood pressure.

Dr. Castañeda said "the president's health is stable. His pressure has normalized and test results show no worrying results."

Doctors are asking that Don Abel rest for at least a week so that he can recover completely. This is the second time this year that Pacheco has been treated at the Calderón Guardia, doctors this time are demanding and asking that he rest.

Since MOnday at 11am, Lineth Saborío has been temporarily at the head of the government, assuming the presidency while Pacheco is temporarily incapacitated.

Saborío took over the presidential duties following a phone call by Pacheco to Casa Presidencial after he arrived at the hospital.

Under the Costa Rican constitution, a president cannot resign office. The transfer of power of the president can only occur on the death or "permanent" incapacitation.
