Hurricane Emily slams central Caribbean
Hurricane Emily arrived in the central Caribbean on Friday, forcing the governments of Haiti, Dominica and Jamaica to declare a state of emergency.

Haiti announced the state of emergency in south, southeast and west parts of the country, including the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, and released warnings against strong winds and storms.

Dominica declared the southern part of the country in a state of emergency, and issued warnings against a possible tsunami.

Jamaica was also in a state of emergency, the second in 10 days.

On July 7, Hurricane Dennis attacked the island country, killing one person and causing heavy property losses.

Emily descended upon the Caribbean a week after its predecessor Dennis devastated parts of Haiti, Cuba and Florida of the United States, leaving more than 60 people dead.

Puerto Rico and Venezuela are also observing Emily's movement in fear of a possible hit.
