World environmentalists meet in
Cuba
Experts from 30 countries are
attending the 5th International
Convention on Environment and
Development this week in Havana,
Cuba.
The event addresses issues like
water basin management, coastal
eco-systems, protected areas,
environmental education and
more.
The Cuba-sponsored conference
has held meetings every other
year since 1997, aiming to
promote environmental protection
in the Latin America and
Caribbean region, ensuring
sustainable development.
Present at the five-day meeting
are representatives from many
Latin American nations, Europe,
Asia, and international
organizations like the
International Union for Nature
Conservation and the UN Program
for the Environment.
