Liberia Airport To Get
Improvements
The Consejo Técnico de Aviación
Civil (CETAC) is getting ready
to sign a contract that will
improve conditions at the Daniel
Oduber airport in Liberia.
The contract is worth some ¢95.8
million colones (us$2 million
dollars) that will see an
expansion of the terminal and a
reconstruction of the tarmac.
Roberto Arguedas, vice-minister
of Transportes, said that the
contract will go to the
Quebrador Pedregal company which
is expected to finish the work
in 77 days from signing.
Arguedas said one of the major
problems facing the airport is
the need for more parking spaces
for the airplanes as the airport
sees a lot of tourists arriving
by private jets and needing a
place to park them while they
are here.
As well, the terminal is not
able to cope with the 21
international flights each week.
According to numbers stated by
Arguedas, the Daniel Oduber
airport handled 95.000
passengers in 2004.
