Costa Rica to Negotiate EU
Banana Import Tariff
Costa Rica has hope to structure
a dialogue between
Latin-American banana producing
countries and the EU next
January.
During the recent WTO Hong Kong
round it was agreed that the
Norwegian minister of Trade,
Johannes Store, will mediate for
the coming year, but it was not
decided how a dialogue between
the parties will be structured.
Nonetheless, Manuel González,
the Costa-Rican minister of
Foreign Trade, thinks that
whatever dialogue or structure
will be formed, it will change
nothing to the right of Latin
American countries to execute
their rights to the common
conflict resolution of the WTO.
