Cuban Parliament Discusses
Budget
The Cuban National Peoples Power
Assembly (Parliament) opens
ordinary sessions Thursday at
the capital´s Conference Center
to debate the National Budget
for 2006.
Prior to the full Parliament
gathering, permanent commissions
discussed December 18-20 key
issues like industrial
production output, the state of
the economy, education, culture,
science, technology,
environment, health, national
defense, constitutional issues
and legal affairs, and
international relations.
The Cuban legislative house also
tackled reports on the National
Housing Department to simplify
bureaucratic procedures, as well
as a report of the Agriculture
Ministry, particularly a project
to increase pork and poultry
production.
Lawmakers also visited plants
under the Food Industry
Institute and members of the
Friendship Parliamentary Group
assessed relations with other
countries and reviewed the work
of their commission during this
year.
Today´s agenda also includes the
election of the country´s
examining judges.
