Katrina Soaks Costa Rica
Katrina, the category 5
hurricane that has forced
hundreds of thousands to be
evacuated in New Orleans and
surrounding areas, soaked Costa
Rica beginning yesterday
afternoon and into the night.
The strong winds and heavy rains
affected all areas of the
country and is expected to
continue today in some areas,
according to the Instituto
Meteorológico Nacional (IMN).
Flights to Miami were also
affected. Alterra Partners, the
operators of the Juan Santamaría
(San José) airport say flight to
Miami returned to normal
Saturday and Sunday. Miami is a
major destination of many
travellers to and from Europe
visiting Costa Rica.
Alterra says that flights to
Atlanta and Chicago were not
affected by Katrina.
