Sandinistas Blames Nicaraguan President for Domestic Chaos
Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) General Secretary Daniel Ortega held Nicaraguan President Enrique Bolaños responsible for the crisis gripping the country following the breakup of national talks.

Ortega´s remarks were made at the Catholic University on Wednesday, where he announced it was Bolaños who suspended talks with the FSLN and the Constitutional Liberal Party.

The FSLN General Secretary travelled to the university to evaluate with Cardinal Miguel Obando y Bravo the consequences of the President´s stance and to take measures against the worsening of the domestic crisis.

In Managua, which is severely affected by the lack of public transport, the riot police tightened patrols near the university, government headquarters, the Congress and state buildings.

According to La Nueva Radio Ya station, university students from the city of Leon, nearly 58 miles north of Managua, blocked roads connecting it with the capital, while farmers from the Matagalpa zone blocked the Pan American highway.

On Tuesday, 10,000 people peacefully marched through Managua to demand President Bolaños to resign if he could not resolve the social woes.
