Report of Dobbins Body Buried Turned Out to be False
The report that the body of Brendan Keiran Dobbins, the Australian young man who went missing in Tamarindo om March 4th, was buried in a site known as La Chechenia, some 500 metres from Tamarindo centre, turned out to be false.

Agent of the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) and the Fuerza Pública delegations in Santa Cruz worked for more than four hours on Saturday, digging a hole of more than one metre where the body was to have been buried, coming up empty handed.

What they did find buried were equipment used to prepare illegal drugs. The area is well known to drug addicts.

Manuel Bonilla, with the Tamarindo police detachment was skeptical when the report came in but decided to follow it up. "We've searched every square metre of the area with dogs and found nothing", said Bonilla.

Dobbins came to Costa Rica on February 24, with a group of friends from Florida where he was an exchange student. Following what reports say was a long night of partying, Dobbins went missing on March 4.

Initial reports said the young man may have drowned since he was last seen on the beach. Police had made a call to all authorities along the coast including their counterparts in Nicaragua. No body has been found floating since Dobbins went missing and police now believe it is unlikely he drowned.

Some speculate that the Dobbins got in with the wrong crowd and a dispute may have arisen and Dobbins was killed. For the OIJ chief of the area, Albin Obando, this theory is just one of the many speculations surrounding the young man's disappearance. Albin said that there are many empty hollows in the area like the one they dug up on Saturday.

Last week, Brian and Mary Dobbins - Brendan's parents - returned to Costa Rica in the hopes that they will find their son and alive. The Australian Federal Police (AFP) have assigned a agent, who is being dispatched from the AFP Colombian office to help out in the search.

"My wife and I believe in fact that he is still alive, that in fact he is being held against his will but don't have any information about the parties or the people that may be holding him,"  Brian Dobbins said, who believes his son is still alive.

What is strange in this case is that Brendan just disappeared and in a small beach town that gossip is the topic of the day. In Tamarindo everything is known.

The disappearance Brendan has everyone talking but "no one" giving up the secret.
