Exports at a Slow Pace
The exports of Costa Rica
increased only by 1 percent this
year's first quarter, when they
reached us$1,609 million, as
compared to the us$1,592
recorded in the same period in
2004.
The quarterly report from the
Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER
in Spanish) points out that the
industrial sector was the
weakest one, since its sales
abroad decreased by 1.1 percent.
On the other hand, the
agricultural and food sectors
made up for that loss and
prompted the growth, however
limited, according to Minister
of Foreign Trade Manuel
Gonzalez.
