Costa Rica's Circuito Nacional
de Surf Event This Weekend
Antonio Pilurzu, head of the
Federacion de Tico Surf,
announced today the seventh date
of the 2004-05 Circuito Nacional
de Surf would take place
Saturday and Sunday April 16th
and 17th from 7am-5pm each day
in Playa Hermosa on the beach
directly in front of
Hotel/Bar/Restaurant Backyard.
Last week after losing the
intended sponsor for this date,
event organizers quickly bounced
back by rescheduling the weekend
and moving the event from Playa
Nosara to Playa Hermosa.
This weekend over 100 surfers
from all over Costa Rica will
travel to compete in this 4-star
tournament knowing that at this
stage of competition every point
earned will be critical as the
points for all eight tournaments
will tallied together at the end
of the season in order to
determine national rankings.
Pilurzu is also pleased to
announce, following a difficult
fundraising season, financial
commitments from Op, Adrenalina,
and Freestyle making them the
official sponsors for the
2004-05 Circuito Nacional de
Surf’s Grand Finals to take
place May 28th and 29th in Playa
Hermosa. Pilurzu said speaking
of the finals, “It will be a
great event to end a great
year.”
Prospective contestants can
enter the Seventh Tournament of
the 2004-05 Circuito Nacional de
Surf Friday, April 15h from 5 to
7 p.m. at the Jass Surf Shop in
Playa Jaco. The cost is c5000
for Open, Women, Junior (18
years and under), Boogie,
Longboard and Masters (40 years
and over) categories, and c3000
for Boys (16 years and under),
Grommets (14 years and under),
and Mini-Grommets (l2 years and
under).
Longtime Circuito supporter
Bar/Restaurant “Backyard” will
host the celebratory party,
beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday
April 16thth where there will be
live music for the surfers and
their guests
