Constitutional Court Stays
Priest Deportation Order
The Constitutional Court, known
as Sala IV, has asked that the
director de Migración , Marco
Badilla and Ministro de
Seguridad, Rogelio Ramos, give
explanations why they cancelled
the tourist status for American
priest Alfred Prado last week.
The action known as a "Recurso
Amparo" stays the order to
deport the priest until the
court resolves the issue.
Last week, immigration officials
cancelled Prado's visitor status
in Costa Rica saying that the
priest was not here as a tourist
but rather to perform
Ministerial duties without
permission.
However, Prado, claims that he
did was meet with a group from
San Isidro de Grecia and prayed
together. He did not perform any
work.
