Round
Óscar Arias Sánchez could once
again become the president of
Costa Rica, according to a poll
by Demoscopia published in
Spanish language daily, Al Día.

Come January, driving in Costa
Rica, will be cheaper with the
approval of the fifth
consecutive reduction in the
price of gasoline. The current
price is ¢441 colones for a
litre of super, down from a high
of ¢504 several months ago. In
January a litre of super will
cost ¢422 colones. |
Gasoline Price Drop Approved;
New Prices To Change in January
Gasoline prices are going down
again. The Autoridad Reguladora
de Servicios Públicos (Aresep)
yesterday approved a reduction
of ¢19 colones for a litre of
super gasoline, ¢18 colones for
regular and ¢21 colones for
diesel.
Cartago Route Has New Bus Company
Starting January
Beginning January 15 and not
tomorrow (Saturday) the bus
company Sociedad Autotransportes
Cartago S.A. (SACSA) will no
longer be providing regular bus
service between San José and
Cartago. The service will be
assumed by Lumaca, which is
partly owned by the Alajuela bus
company, Tuasa, controlled by
Marvin Herrera, which is also a
partner in the vehicular
inspection company, Riteve S.A.
Constitutional Court Orders
Traffic Lights With Sound
By order of the Sala
Constitucional (Constitutional
Court) or Sala IV as it is often
referred, the Ministerio de
Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT)
must put aside some ¢70 million
colones (us$141.000) to updgrade
traffic lights with sound to
help the blind.
Divorce Rate Up
The number of divorces is up in
Costa Rica. In 1995 there were
only 4.000 separations recorded,
while in 2004 the number was
more than double at 9.000.

unwilling to talk arms purchases

Venezuela will not discuss its
